Hmmmm! This whisky hails from an undisclosed Orkney distillery. We are seeing a few of these show up recently. Have you been able to determine which distillery it might be? There’s only two distilleries on Orkney so if you guess you’ll probably be correct or at least 50% of the way there.
North Star Spirits is an independent bottler based in Glasgow, Scotland. They pride themselves on bottling the finest single malt Scotch whisky, blended whisky and blended malt Scotch whisky. Producing artisan single cask whisky from various regions of Scotland as well as bottling rums, gins and Bourbon whiskey. All products are small batch, bottled at cask strength.
This North Star bottling was distilled at an undisclosed Orkney Distillery in 2007. It was matured for 15 years in a Oloroso Sherry hogshead. Bottled as part of the Cask Series 18 only 328 bottles were produced with a much smaller amount making it to Australia. Bottled at 59.7% ABV.
Our Tasting Notes

Nose: Honey sweetness is softened with raisins and orchard fruits, hints of pineapple and citrus.
Palate: Sweet sherry notes with orange bitters, milk chocolate, peppermint and hints of leather.
Finish: Long with espresso and soft spice and smoke.
