There have been many ups and downs on the long road to Ardbeg throughout the years. Ardbeg’s story is one of irrepressible spirit surviving against the odds, finally emerging as “unquestionably, the greatest distillery on Earth”.
We welcome a new addition to the core range. Ardbeg Wee Beastie is a young Ardbeg which was created due to the consumption of blended whisky reducing therefor there was an increase in younger barrels from the distillery. It’s always been said that younger whisky tends to be smokier/peatier whisky so this a great chance to try that theory. Using ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks for maturation the ‘Wee Beastie’ takes its name from Scottish humour describing a small insect that lives in a fresh water pond. Non chill-filtered with a strength of 47.4% ABV.
Our Tasting Notes
Nose: Briny, freshly opened oysters, orchard fruits of pear and apples, talcum powder, antiseptic cream, vanilla and smoked herring.
Taste: Poached pears, smouldering oak, capsicum and ashtray.
Finish: Passionfruit and rock melon, lemon citrus, eucalyptus, salty sea water.
