Adelphi exist to identify the very small number of casks that have produced the ultimate whiskies. The criteria for selection include rarity and maturity, but above all flavour. These whiskies are both rare and sought-after – these very special casks are so rare that, on average, Adelphi accepts a mere 4% that it is offered. Each single cask of whisky matures its contents very differently, imparting its own character to the whisky it holds and, as a result, there are never two Adelphi’s quite the same.
An independently bottled single malt from a mysterious Speyside distillery, so mysterious that even the folks at Adelphi weren’t told where the original source was when they bought it. It’s a cracking series though, and limited to 621 bottles. Interestingly enough this whisky was distilled in 2006 and bottled in 2020 but only has a verified age statement of 11 years!
Our Tasting Notes
Nose: Creamy toffee, orchard fruits of pear and apple, some red fruits of strawberry and cherry and some dark chocolate.
Palate: Creamy with melted chocolate, salted caramels, butterscotch and Oloroso Sherry.
Finish: Cocoa, bitter dark toffee, mint and some fermented banana.
